The holiday issue of Hamptons Magazine is out. We publish weekly during the summer season, so this is our most recent issue since September. Apropos of this time of year, it is, of course, about shopping, and the pages are filled with ads for luxury goods.
I have a short article looking back at, among other things, the Christmas trees on our Main Streets. East Hampton Village changed from simply blue lights to multicolored tree lights about twenty years ago I think, and I am still petulant about it.
One tree, the one placed in the shallow waters of Town Pond, remains blue—a gesture to those of us who objected to tampering with holiday tradition at all.
