What We Drank: Opening Day at the Classic

Well, of course we drank Louis Roederer champagne.  It is the Classic, after all.

But during the Nicolock Time Challenge I tried it with a splash of Pama--a pomegranate liqueur.  The combination is based on the Kir Royale theory of champagne cocktails, but since Pama is produced by the Kentucky based distiller Heaven Hill, and uses California pomegranates, it is all-American.  As far as taste, it adds a sweet, lighthearted touch to the lively bubbles in your glass.  No one who enjoys drinking under the Grand Prix Tent can argue with that.

I'll try it on its own later in the week, but for now it comes in high on the drinks-are-fun index.
