Terrific Treats, No Tab

It’s hard for people to remember but until the 21st century things in wine and food and fashion used to get moving without a launch party.  But those were also the days when children grew up wanting to be a firefighter rather than an event planner.

LT Burger in the Harbor opened on Main Street in Sag Harbor early in the summer without much hoopla but with a seemingly full house ever since.  Last night they finally, sort of, launched themselves.  Being a Wednesday night off-season, there were no velvet ropes or Hamptons glitterati.  It seemed to be the people who show up at the restaurant on other Wednesday nights—except last night the food and drinks were on the house.

It was intended for those of us who live here all the time.  I hesitate to use the word local, which once had some geographic meaning, but now has been appropriated by media types as a marketing subset.

We are the nomenclature of people who show up.  We did our part last night, and were rewarded extremely well with wine poured by co-owner Michael Cinque while we nibbled on crabcakes, Buffalo popcorn shrimp, sliders and other excellent hors d’oeuvres.
